2010 Colts - Dorset Cup Winners

A few words to go with the photos of last seasons u 17 colts winning the Dorset county cup v Parley. The team photo left to right George Russell ( wkt ) Lewis Jones Rob Smith David Iles (cpt) Greg Thew Simon Russell Ashley Humber Jake Hurley Greg Message Ciaron Trellis Mark Rutland .
The team played with the spirit that took them to the u15 national finals a couple of seasons before, batting first Jake Hurley (top scorer, retd.) and Rob Smith were the big hitters .
Sharp fielding and backing up from everyone , [made possible by our coaching sessions] gave the bowlers confidence to attack and produced great bowling from everyone, notably Ashley Humber and Mark Rutland with a 3 wkt haul that tore the heart out of the Parley top order, and earned Mark man of the match.
Absent from this game was Jamie Biddle who had a top season bowling for u17's Sunday 2s and Saturday 3rds,some of his deliveries being pretty unplayable, being photographed ,recieving Dorset bowler of the month [july].
Also Batsman of the month[ july] ,Lewis Jones with a spanking 150 for the sun2s,
David Iles received colt of the season for his commitment to all his teams, some good batting performances, including a mighty 174 for the sat 3rds v Beaminster in Dorset league 1.
A very enjoyable year ,including the wonderfull experience of touring in South Africa, incredible memories for boys and families alike, and very big hand to all those who organised and contributed to its success.
Thanks to all the members ,parents, coaches, umpires, and tea ladies, who have all done their bit to make it all happen[.A special thanks to my wife Catherine, and daughter Niamh , for their loyal support with organisation and teas].The support of all these people make the success of the boys possible and hopefully give them a 'cricket home' for the future.
My thanks and best wishes to all concerned,
Steve Iles
