League and Cup Rules
1/. Players must be under the relevant age on 1 st September of the previous year.
2/. Evidence of date of birth of any individual player must be provided to the East Dorset Cricket Association Committee, if requested.
3/. (a) The following matches will be 8-a-side:-
(1) U9 League and Cup
(2) U10 League and Cup
(3) U11 League
(b) The following matches will be 9-a-side:-
(1) U11 Cup
(2) U12 League and Cup
(3) U13 League and Cup
(c) The following matches will be 11-a-side:-
(1) U14 League and Cup
(2) U15 League and Cup
(3) Colts League and Cup
4/. No player may play for more than 1 club in a season, within an age group. If a club has more than 1 team in an age group, playing in different divisions, players can switch between the 2 teams. However, once a player has played 5 games in the higher division, that player can no longer play in the lower division.
5/.Cup Competitions are considered separate to the League matches, but a player must only play for one team in each Cup competition.
6/. It shall not be permissible for a team to retain points won by including an ineligible player. At the discretion of the East Dorset Cricket Association Committee, either points may be awarded to the opposing team or the match replayed.
7 /. All complaints/protests, relating to the rules of the Competition, must be in writing to the Secretary, within seven days of the occurrence.

U9 - Saturday 9.30am
U10 (East) – Sunday, 9.30am. U10 (South) - Tuesday 6.15pm
U11 (East) – Saturday, 9.30am. U11 (South) - Monday 6.15pm
U12 (East) – Friday, 6.15pm. U12 (South) - Tuesday 6.15pm
U13 (East) – Monday 6.00pm. U13 (South) - Thursday 6.15pm
U14 – Friday 6.00pm
U15 - Monday, 6.00pm
Colts – Thursday, 6.00pm
Girls - Wednesday, 6.15pm
Matches must be played on the date allocated, unless both teams agree to play on an earlier date than the one scheduled.
Matches cancelled due to bad weather cannot be rearranged, other than as a friendly.
9/. 10 points will be awarded for a win, 5 points for a tie (scores equal). [top of page]
10/. Batting Bonus points will be awarded as follows:-
U9s, U10s, U11s & Girls– 1 point for every 10 runs above 200, up to a maximum of 10 points.
U11s (Cup), U12s & U13s – 1 point for scoring 40 runs, and I extra point thereafter for each additional 20 runs, up to a maximum of 5 points. For the side batting second, and winning, points will be awarded for wickets in hand at the close, as follows:- 1 point for 2 wickets in hand, 2 points for 4 wickets in hand, 3 points for 6 wickets in hand, 4 points for 7 wickets in hand, 5 points for 8 wickets in hand. The maximum number of batting points a side can obtain is 5.
U14s, U15s & Colts League – I point for scoring 40 runs, and 1 extra point thereafter for each additional 20 runs, up to a maximum of 5 points. For the side batting second, and winning, 1 point will be awarded for every 2 wickets in hand at the close. The maximum number of batting points a side can obtain is 5.
11/. Bowling Bonus points will be awarded as follows (League matches only):- [top of page]
U9s, U10s, U11s & Girls – none
U11s (Cup), U12s & U13s – 1 point for taking 1 wicket, 2 points for taking 3 wickets, 3 points for taking 5 wickets, 4 points for taking 7 wickets, 5 points for taking 8, or all available, wickets. If a side playing short has batsmen retired, bowling points will be awarded taking into account the number of wickets taken and the number of players missing.
U14s, U15s & Colts League – 1 point for every 2 wickets taken, with all 5 points being awarded in the event of a side, having less than 11 players, all being out. If a side playing short, has batsmen retired, bowling points will be awarded taking into account the number of wickets taken and the number of players missing.
12/. If a team fails to honour a fixture, it will receive no points and 20 points will be awarded to the other side, with the match counting as a fixture played for both teams.
13/. The final League positions will be decided by average points per match.
14/. Format Of games:-
U9, U10, U11 (League) & Girls – [top of page]
Each team to have one innings of 16 six-ball overs.
The batting side shall be divided into pairs, each pair batting for 4 overs and changing at the end of the 4 th , 8 th and 12 th overs.
No bowler may bowl more than 3 overs.
Each team shall start with a score of 200 runs and accumulate runs as in normal cricket. Every time a wicket falls, 6 runs shall be deducted from the total.
If a team is one player short, the lowest scoring batsmen from the first pair, taking into account wickets lost, will bat again in the 4 th pair. If a team is 2 players short, they must play the entire game with only 6 players, batting for 12 overs with 3 pairs.
When a batsman is out, he shall not face the next delivery, swapping ends if necessary
A wide delivery will incur a penalty of 2 runs, plus any runs scored, but no extra ball except in the last over when 2 runs and an extra ball will both apply.

In U9s, the pitch length will be 17 yards.
U11 (Cup) & U12 – [top of page]
Each team to have one innings of 18 six-ball overs.
The umpires will decide on any adjustment of overs in the event of inclement weather or bad light. In a match subject to a late start or interruption in the first innings, each innings will be reduced by one over for each full 6 minutes lost. In a case of interruption in the second innings, that innings is reduced by one over for each full 3 minutes lost. The minimum number of overs for a result to be obtained must be 10 overs for each side, unless a team is all out, or the side batting second exceed their target score. In the case of a side batting second and the innings being curtailed after 10, or more, overs, the match is decided on average number of runs scored per over.
No bowler may bowl more than 4 overs in a match.
Each batsman will retire when their score reaches 25, and shall not return to the wicket, even if the remainder of the side is out. If the last 2 batsmen are at the wicket, and one batsman reaches 25, he should then act as a runner, until the other batsman is either out, reaches 25, or the team wins. If either batsman is run out, the innings will end.

The minimum number of overs for a result to be obtained must be 12 overs for each side, unless a team is all out, or the side batting second exceed their target score. In the case of a side batting second and the innings being curtailed after 12, or more, overs, the match is decided on average number of runs scored per over.
No bowler may bowl more than 4 overs in a match.
Each batsman will retire when their score reaches 35 and shall not return to the wicket, even if the remainder of the side is out. If the last 2 batsmen are at the wicket, and one batsman reaches 35, he should then act as a runner, until the other batsman is either out, reaches 35, or the team wins. If either batsman is run out, the innings will end.
15/. The Home team must supply a match ball. For U9 – U13 age groups this should be a youth ball (4 ¾ oz).

17/. Helmets are mandatory for all batsmen, and for all wicketkeepers.
18/. Pitch lengths:-
U9s – 17 yards
U10s & Girls - 19 yards
U11s – 20 yards
U12s & U13s – 21 yards
U14s, U15s & Colts – 22 yards
19/. Fielding Restrictions:- [top of page]
U9s – U13s: No player is allowed to field within 11 yards of the bat, except behind the wicket on the off side.
U14s – U16s: No player is allowed to field within 8 yards of the bat, except behind the wicket on the off side.
20/. If Knock-out Cup matches are tied, the team losing the fewer wickets will be the winners. If the number of wickets are equal, the team bowling the least number of wides will be the winners.
21/. The home club must notify The Dorset Cricket Centre of the result of the game, by 10.00pm on the day of the match
22/. Fines will be imposed for the following offences:- [top of page]
Scratched Matches – 1 st occasion:£10, 2 nd occasion:£20, 3 rd occasion: £30 and team will be withdrawn from the league.
Withdrawing from League, at any point after fixtures have been compiled - £30.
Failing to notify result on day of match – 1 st occasion:warning, 2 nd occasion:£5, subsequent occasions:£10
